Server Crash

It appears the hard drive crashed and took out the operating system. I'm trying to set up another drive and will hopefully be able to recover the files off the original server drive. If not, I will have to start KT with a fresh server vault. My apologies for this.

Well as i was saying to DarkSky the other week starting over wouldn't be so bad. So if that becomes the case, so be it. We'll all just help each other out like usual. However, that being said, I wish you all the luck in recovering the server files and fixing everything smoothly!

Got the new hard drive and OS installed. Had a few issues getting the server running. I have one day to get this going before I will be unable to work on it for several weeks. Please log on and let me know if you see the server!

Hmm.. I logged on this morning and ground out some levels on an alt, got super laggy and quit the game to go make breakfast and when I came back I was unable to log in. Anyone else experiencing this?

Seems there have been problems that have been fixed (Thanks Sarah!)
Also seems that some new problem has appeared -- and it sounds like we may have to wait a while before it's fixed.

The IP address is 114.179.170.39. Everything on the server side is running fine.

Aha -- that sounds like a new/changed IP ... (was previously 114.179.171.233)
Am looking forward to getting on and playing again ... but will probably now have to wait -- am about to head off for a holiday to escape winter ... 3-4 weeks in Bali/Indonesia ... leaving in under 2 days ... looking forward to it!

Both. I keep having internet problems on this end. I can't explain why, but my upload and download speeds would start out good after a full reset but kept dropping. I think it was because I was running two separate routers off my single account (even though my ISP says it can be done). Either way, I now have a single ISP-provided router that I'm not allowed to reconfigure (I don't even have the password for it). Everything downstream of that is DHCP which means my previous settings to allow you all to log into the NWN server are no longer good.

PLUS, I have a dynamic internet net address. It's 114.179.171.24 at the moment, and I don't know when it will change again. Last time I was here, I paid extra for a static IP address. Without a master server directing traffic to the NWN game servers, every time my IP address changes, everyone is knocked off.

Anyway, I believe someone offered to host KT. I'm no longer interested working on it. My wife recently passed away, and I regret spending so much time on computers that should have been spent with her. A word to the wise in that regard. Family is more important, and hours spent gaming are hours that you can never get back with your spouse and children. If someone wants to host it the right way, I'd really like to be unburdened with it.

You're right Sarah. don't worry about this stuff anymore. There are plenty of other games for people to play. Personally I think maybe we should all learn from this and start making a little extra effort on real life. I don't have a family but I could focus more on my martial arts more. Thanks Sarah for years of fun playing in your servers. I can honestly say I spent a lot of my childhood playing lol. I think I was 12 when I started in Dx1! Crazy how long I've been at this!

I believe you mentioned, and ages ago at that, some of the scripts used were perl scripts -- character deletion, or something -- I program in perl at work, so am quite familiar with it as well.

Hmmm, let me spin up a machine. I scrapped the hardware of the intended machine about 2 months ago for another project.

I wonder if I can get NWN to run on a raspberry pi...
