I agree with the need for rule enforcement, and Sarah, this is not a criticism, no one expects you to be online 24/7 and I also know how protective you are over your creation.

Perhaps an item could be created to be given to some select demi-dm's to allow for a certain amount of control over booting trouble makers or sending them to prison and clearing mass mobs in dungeons etc..

As i have probably just given away, I know nothing of scripting so this may not be feasible but its just an idea. Failing that the only other alternative is picking some trustworthy players to give DM access to.

I'm thinking about possible solutions. I have had no effective internet access for the last week, and the only hot spot available was hideously slow. Now I have fiber-optic! I'll try to spend some time addressing the problems.

BTW, lag issues are generally internet related and not due to the server. I run KT on linux, and it is far more bullet proof than Windows or Mac OS versions. Lag is most often caused (in my opinion) by my ISP or one of my family members downloading huge files. Since the server is on cable, I share bandwidth and have limited upload speeds.

I'm considering moving the server here (to Japan) to put it on the 100Mbps fiber connection where it will have the full bandwidth to itself.

If you are thinking about spreading the DM responsibility around a little, then I nominate Nuli, DarkSky and Pugz as potential candidates, all know and respect your rules and wouldn't be corrupted too much by the additional power. Also I am fairly sure that Dark never logs off, even to sleep....
